Large brooch featuring the ionic architectural rhythm in columns by which many famous monuments were built by including the Parthenon.
The ionic mode evolved in Ionia on the eastern shore of the Aegean Sea. It replaced the harsh Doric mode with it's purpose more for decoration rather than structural at a time of properity.
