Apollo was one of the most important gods of the Olympian Pantheon. His godly dominion was over colonists, medicine,  as the father and adviser of Asclepius.MOreover he was known as the patron defender of the herds and flocks. At his most known role, the god of prophesy he was the Oracular patron god of the Delphic oracle. 

Apollo was also known as the god of music and poetry , leader of the muses (Apollo Musagetes) and protector of all arts and is usually depicted as a handsome beardless young man, often holding a kithara (lyre/ lyra) or a bow in his hand,  His symbols were: lyre, laurel wreath, python, raven, bow and arrows.
