Alexander the Great coin cufflinks. A museum quality reproduction of the coin in 925 Sterling Silver
The featured coin featured by this splendid pair of cufflinks is one of the best known and most admirable silver Alexander Coins 300 - 280 BC. It is named an Alexander Coin not because it pictures Alexander but because it was issued under Alexander's reign. Depicted is actually the head of the demi-god Hercules wearing the lion skin head-dress following the myths of his strength and verility. As this image however was an image representing a mythical god and the god's appearance was each sculptor's imagination, the god became associated to the mighty Alexander and their appearances merged.
