New product

A relic reproduction ring from the old Byzantine empire

More details

More info

The ring is a beautiful relief ring made from a generous amount of sterling silver and has a genuine and heavy feel to it (unlike most contemporary machine made articles made from silver 'slices') It is made from artisans specialized in museum reproductions. As it is  hand made, small variations may occur from one item to another.

The ring depicts a Byzantine monogram of unknown exact meaning. Monograms were used in the arts - such as iconography (amongst these the most famous symbol being ΧΡ) as well as as crests or 'logos' for institutions and people of notable importance. Among these clerics and other socially esteemed professions.
Today the precise meaning of the monogram is lost but what remains is a beautiful cultural relic of a lost civilization preserved and reproduced with great care by the Vaphiadis family.
