The Knossos excavation begun in March 1900 and was headed by Arthur Evans. In this enormous project, he excavators discovered magnificent buildings, art and findings that had been unseen for more than 3500 years. "La Parisienne" is one of the first excavated frescos from the ancient Knossos palace. Late Minoan IIIA, c.1400 or later.
Allegedly it got it's name by one of tne of the French excavators who exclaimed in exaltation -`But those are Les Parisiennes !`
